School Choir performing on RTE Today
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who featured on RTE's today show.
Pupils from our school were featured on the today show as part of a broadcast from the Vadeleur gardens, Kilrush.
West Clare was celebrated by hearing about Scattery Island, the history of Vadeleur, music and song with Socks in the Frying pan and Senan's Primary School, with fun, Sports & Games from our local Sporting Heroes. This performance was made extra special as the school choir sang a wonderful song written by our very own Tersea Carrig
A huge thank you to Ms. O'Gorman, Ms. O' Mahony and Ms. Moroney for all their hard work.

Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign that delivers gifts straight into the hands of children affected by poverty. Often these shoebox gifts are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they bring is incredible. Thank you to the families for supporting this appeal

Maths Week is held on the 13th - 21st October to encourage and enhance a positive attitude towards learning maths regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background, needs or abilities. The children at St. Senan's Primary school are busy having fun, learning new maths skills both indoors and outdoors. Parents/ Guardians can also join in the fun. This year Mrs Garrihy's and Mrs Hogan's 6th classes, Mrs Hehir's 5th class and Mrs Young's 3rd and 4th classes are linking with a school in Croatia. We already had a zoom call with them, giving reports on our school, town, county and country. The students in Croatia informed us about their town, community and school. They have ran to Ireland and now we are running there! It will take approximately 1,800km to reach Croatia. We are currently 237km of the way there, approximately 1/7 of the journey. Here is a map we drew to illustrate our journey. |

World Down Syndrome Day 2021
Our class had great fun today celebrating World Down Syndrome Day , it is celebrated annually on the 21st of March. It is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. It is celebrated on the 21st of March as people with Down Syndrome are born with an extra copy of a 3rd chromosome 21. WDSD helps to raise awareness and celebrates these unique and valued members of our communities.

First Reconciliation : On Tuesday evening, January 14th, Mrs Considine's and Mrs Garrihy's second class, celebrated their First Reconciliation led by Fr Larkin and the two Fr Martin's. The choir provided music and song in the background, all adding to a very special occasion.
Wild Shamrock Theatre Company are with us on Friday February 7th.
Clare Schools Debating : Congratulations to our School Debating Team who are now in the semi final of the competition.
Swimming continues every Friday for 6 weeks for the children in fifth class.

Seinn na nÓg aims to encourage, celebrate, incorporate and promote the participation of children and their talents into our liturgies throughout the year.'

One Tree Per Child’ wants to have every child planting one tree as part of a primary school activity. '
‘One Tree Per Child’ is an international tree planting initiative. It was started by Olivia Newton-John and Jon Dee, the original founders of National Tree Day, in 2015 Kilrush is first town to introduce the One Tree Per Child project in Ireland. Each child is given the opportunity to plant a tree during their time in primary school. In 2017, 376 trees were planted by all children attending primary school in Kilrush and in 2018, 66 trees were planted by new pupils. This is the 3rd year of this event and 50+ native trees were planted by all children who were newly enrolled in in September 2019. As the children grow their trees will grow with them. Early March was chosen as the planting date as it is the recommended time to plant trees. |

The JESSIESThe JESSIES is a project being held in Primary Schools throughout County Clare which encourages the holistic development of the children and which benefits them personally and educationally.
The ability to work as part of a group, the capacity to show flexibility to achieve ones goals and the drive to give of your best for the team are qualities which will serve the children well throughout their lives. The sponsors of the JESSIES strongly believe that the spirit of an entrepreneur lies in the hearts and minds of every child. Through the JESSIES project children are given the opportunity to identify and unlock their entrepreneurial skills. This year 6th class had some amazing business ideas to present in front of the Dragons. The ideas included: Bath Bombs, Car Wash, Pom-Tastic Creations and Cardboard Creations. Each group presented their idea, giving an outline of the project, costs, marketing, manufacturing and time involved. After much deliberating the dragons hard a hard decision to make but they eventually decided on 'Bath Bombs'. The JESSIES Showcase day is in June and here are some photos of the products being made that will be on display. |
